POTIUS™ RESIDENTIAL
Potius™ Floor, Wall & Roof Panels System
Potius™ manufactures a range of Roof, Wall, and Floor panels that are used in residential buildings in the form of panelised construction. We engineer and customise our panel solution to suit the requirements of your home and can provide beams and lintels to create open living spaces. The main advantages of our system are; economical engineered design, fast installation time, and high performance insulation.
Potius™ Roof Panels use LVL rafters and an OSB roof diaphragm that provide a racking ceiling with 150mm of PUR insulation (R6.6).
Potius™ Wall Panels are a combination of LVL framing, OSB rigid air barrier, and PUR insulation (at a level that can be customised for the client).
Potius™ Intertenancy Wall Panels are an acoustically separated, fire-rated, and insulated structural systems for use between multi-residential tenancies.
Potius™ Floor Panels use LVL joists and a plywood skin to form a “stress skin panel” that can work to reduce joists sizes and enhance performance. Usually, we would insulate our floors with R2.5 Insulation.
Multi-Unit Systems
Potius™ Building Systems are perfect for Multi-Unit designs incorporating features such as:
Acoustic panels
Intertenancy walls
Subfloor/midfloors
Mono pitch roofs, vaulted ceilings
Stronger
LVL is a premium engineered manufactured lumber, with the benefits of increased strength, and density, and dimensional stability. Custom Engineering is provided on panels to maximise structural efficiency.
High Insulation Values
Less thickness required to get R rating – eg R1.0 = 21mm. You choose your insulation requirements during design. Advanced options of isolated thermal frames, staggered studs and less nogging to reduce thermal bridging.
Built for NZ Conditions
Capable of handling New Zealand’s harsh conditions, seismic activity, high wind loads, and coastal exposure.
Standardised connection details increase repeatability and robustness.
Environmentally Friendly
Manufactured in Nelson, minimising shipping distances and supporting local jobs and industry. PUR insulation is made from 20% recycled materials. Prefabrication reduces waste on site. Built predominantly of timber our panels store carbon in the form of cellulose, absorbed from the atmosphere during their growth stage.
Air Tightness
Prefabrication in controlled conditions provides an airtight panel resistance to mould and moisture. PUR insulation creates full cover with no gaps creating high performance. Significantly higher than average results in air-tightness testing. Internal wrap can be added to increase air tightness.
Flexible Build
Potius Panels™ can be configured to provide different fire ratings, acoustic demands, architectural finishes, insulation needs and service requirements.
Rapid Construction & Reduced Time on Site
LVL panels are easily cut and shaped with normal power tools. Also suitable for screw type fixings and gluing, all achievable with hand tools. In the time it takes to stand a timber frame you can be enclosed and starting on the interior. Faster installation as panels are precision cut to finished design and quick to lift into place.
Reduced Cost
Fewer site deliveries saving on transport costs. Reduced on-site labour. Potential savings in cost of materials as the natural aesthetic of wood can be left untreated/covered.

RESIDENTIAL PROJECT CASE STUDIES
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What R rating can your panels come in?
We can alter our foam thickness to achieve the desired amount of insulation requested. Typically we would insulate subfloors with R2.5, walls R3 and roofs R6.6 insulation.
Do I need my own architect and engineer for a Potius™ project?
Potius™ prefers to do all the engineering for its systems in-house by using its Chartered Engineers. Clients will need to engage their own architect for design of their project (Potius™ can recommend architects familiar with our system on request).
Does PUR insulation react with the wiring and PVC pips in my house?
PUR insulation does not contain plasticisers, which are the cause of PVC degradation, and therefore PVC coated wiring and pipes can directly contact PUR insulation without causing harm.
Does PUR insulation cause condensation in my roof?
When correctly installed in the right type of roof system, PUR will effectively insulate a roof, with out causing condensation damage. PUR is a closed cell insulation that does not hold water and forms a vapour barrier, effectively keeping moisture laden air on one face, where it can be ventilated away.
What is a typical panel size and weight?
Residential panels are typically 2.4m wide by 6.0m long, weighing 400kgs each.
The maximum panels dimensions we can make are 3.0m wide x 12.0m long.
How long does it take to build a Potius™ home on site?
A typical house will take 2-3days to erect by an approved installer. This requires the foundation system, scaffolding and site to be prepared accordingly in advance.
What is the lead time for ordering my Potius™ Panels?
Lead times may vary because of material supply and work load, however a typical lead time from ordering panels to delivery would be 1.5 - 2.5 months.
Can you provide indicative quotes for your panels so I can compare systems?
Yes, if we have a sketch or concept we can provide an estimate of cost for our panels.
Is the PUR Insulation environmental friendly?
The PUR insulation we use is Heatlok HFO Highlift, which uses recycled plastics, renewable soy oils and a non ozone depleting blowing agent. Because of its superior insulating properties its environment impact becomes less than glass fibre insulation early in its in service life cycle. Environmental Product Declarations are available on request.
Are Potius™ Panels able to be used on concrete foundations?
Yes, Potius™ Panels can be used on concrete or timber foundations.
Can Potius™ Panels be used in conjunction with traditional frame and truss construction?
Yes, Potius™ Panels can be mixed with traditional and other building systems as required.
