A1 Building
The A1 building at AUT is the universities first step in a master plan to reinvigorate the North Campus, providing a new social and academic heart. The flexible, student-orientated spaces inside the four-storey building will include student support services, informal spaces for individual and collaborative study, and places to socialise. AUT A1 building is the most energy-efficient university in Australasia achieving net zero carbon targets for operational and embodied carbon, along with setting the industry standard for energy-efficient consumption. Building in timber has helped deliver a building with roughly half the embodied carbon of an equivalent new development.
An innovative, post-tensioned LVL timber structure combined with the Potius™ Box Beam floor and Potius Roof Box Beam panel system achieves this result.
