Ashburton
District Council

The new three-story Library and Civic Center for the Ashburton District Council was developed by Athfield Architects and will feature a modern library, a performance area, study zones, an audio-video recording studio, council chambers and will house the district Civil Defence and Emergency Operations Centre.

The importance level 3/4 design incorporates CLT post-tensioned rocking shear walls with Tectonus dissipation devices, LVL post and beam structure, and Potius™ Floor Box Beams, with a concrete topping, and Potius™ Roof Box Beam panels.

The building is due to open in 2023.
